My lonely Rose of everlasting song
She loved a man and once she long
On the fireplace she ought to sit
Feeling the cold nights heat.
As once my Rose she met a man
Handsome and such a soldiers son
He goes to sneak to her at night
Exactly 12 he’s in her sight.
They fell in love in such a time
Where war goes round unending chime
He promised dear Rosy that he’ll come back
To him she’ll write to keep her track.
But when war grew bigger he got his last
Poor dear Rosy naïve of her love
She kept sending letters for him to read
Unknown to what his empty heed.
Poor Rosy kept waiting now
Beside the fireplace she waits somehow
Hoping that one day he might come
Sad to see for her family and some.
Years after years dear Rose she waited
Night after night she write and quoted
With a peaceful heart she did her final piece
Her last letter for her lost love of bliss.
“My dear love for I have known
You won’t comeback and never will
but I write this last letter for you my love.
I am old and my days are numbered
We’ll be together again without death encumbered.
For I have waited and I will wait
For you my love, for you I will.”
My Dear old Rosy as she sent her final goodbye
Sat beside the fireplace with one little smile
My lonely Rose of everlasting song
She loved a man and once she long.
